Once again, I am in awe of Tom Tomorrow. He sure knows how to hit Alan “Ayn Rand’s Little Disciple” Greenspan where it counts.
One question for you, Mr. G: Why did you not say it was all about oil back when something could still be done to stop this train wreck? Oh wait, I guess that would have something to do with the evils of regulating capitalism, which should just be free to run unfettered and roughshod all over fucking everything. I guess that ideology tied your First Amendment’s tongue. In other words, a false and illusory freedom trumped a genuine one. Now it makes sense…
Actually, here’s another, just for good measure: If you’re so libertarian (and libertarians are, according to their own prattle, so individualistic), why did you sell your soul to the L. Ron Hubbard of political philosophy? Seems such a collectivist thing to do.
And, in light of the job you just left, rather dangerous to boot.
Hey ‘bina! Long time no visit!
That Greenspan is senile and can’t remember now how he cheerleaded (izzat a word?) bu$h’s tax cuts only a few years ago.
But here’s something that ought to be on yer radar: NEOLIBERALISM in Costa Rica! Greenspan certainly thought NAFTA was a GREAT IDEA. CAFTA passed the US House by TWO VOTES! Chavez & Castro are being set up by the neoliberals as the bad guys. Check this out:
Referendum in Costa Rica: Countdown to CAFTA? at UpsideDownWorld
The vote will determine whether the country joins its neighbors in forming a NAFTA-like relationship with the U.S., with 80 percent of tariffs reduced, imports greatly increased and state industries opened to privatization and foreign investment.
U.S. Delegation to present CAFTA monitoring report in Costa Rica at EarthTimes.org
The Stop CAFTA Coalition announces the release of DR-CAFTA Year Two: Trends and Impacts, its second report on the effects of the U.S.-Dominican Republic-Central American Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) trade agreement on the majority of people in the region.
Central America Free Trade Agreement Dividing Costa Rican Society at IndyBayMedia
For the first time in the history of world, a voting population will have the opportunity to vote on a free trade agreement in a referendum. Costa Rican voters will be asked to decide whether or not to accept CAFTA. The referendum is is set to take place on October 7, 2007, and if more than 30% of the voting population turns out for the vote, the results could be considered legally binding.
Read ALL of these! Scary stuff!

Hey, BillO! Glad you could weigh in. I missed ya!
And yeah, the Costa Rica thing totally bipped on my radar tonight. Just been reading at BoRev.net about it:
http://www.borev.net/2007/09/titulares_asininity_dinner_at.html
The Bush Administration thinks it’s adorable that Costa Ricans actually thought that they would let them “vote” on a trade agreement.

Shocking use of dirty trickery, but what a surprise, eh?
I sure hope that Costa Rica, if it doesn’t want to end up turning into Costa Pobre overnight, rejects this bullshit. “Free” trade agreements are not about freedom OR trade, they’re basically just unilateral slave-auctions.
It would look good on the dirty tricksters if an overwhelming majority of Costa Ricans decided to vote for the candidate most likely to ally himself with Chavecito in the next election, too.
Don’t be a stranger, now, y’hear?
Haha ‘Bina!
This shit is SO CRAZY I took the liberty of posting all this on Daily Kos TODAY on the DAY of THE VOTE!
See http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/6/0128/01512
and get in there to mix it up!
I’ll try to keep up as I can, but I need some SLEEP and soon! Keep adding comments to push it up and RECOMMEND! Let’s see how open the vote really is! We can post results as they come in. (I have no idea where to find them! You?)
Thanks for your help and passion on this! Maybe we can turn things around!

BTW, I found a blog courtesy of BoRev.Net:

Gringos Against CAFTA! What could be better? Their last post is dated September 30, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing more soon…
(They have great protest pix, too!)
You may also want to check out http://www.bilaterals.org –they’re another great anti-FTA site. I’m sure they’re following this story intently!
