Music for a Sunday: For Christine O’Donnell, who doesn’t approve this sort of thing

Yes, there’s a theme going on here. See if you can tell me what it is…

First up, Cyndi Lauper (she’s SO unusual!):

Next, Tweet discovers something sweet:

Then, a very slinky Pink, covering The Divinyls:

And finally, one from Serge Gainsbourg, recommended by my francophone tweep Jipim:

So. Have YOU figured out the theme here yet?

  1. Wren says:

Joycelyn Elders? Gawd knows Christine O’Donnell needs a lecture from her.
Elders was the smartest, most open and honest Surgeon General ever and she got fired for her veracity on sexual matters. Monica Lewinsky was karma.

  2. Yeah, no kidding. I thought her advice on masturbation was the sanest thing I’d ever heard. Who catches HIV (or any other STD) from playing with themselves? Plus, for women, there’s the benefit of not ending up with Mr. Wrong. So many young women end up stuck in bad marriages, too early, just because some guy sexually aroused them and they couldn’t distinguish sex from love.
But I guess O’Donnell wants it that way…it’s “Christian” to get married to the wrong guy at the wrong time for the wrong reasons, and end up doing nothing BUT procreating. So what if you feel miserable? Jesus died for you, you sybaritic slut…so suck it up and SUFFER, seems to be HER reasoning.
And of course, her own slutty past is somehow exempt. If indeed it IS her past.
