Stuart Varney soils himself over socialist millennials

Look out, kids in your late twenties and early thirties! Big Bad Stu is coming for you! Yes, like Patty Hearst, he has decided to stay and fight for the freedom of the oppressed stinking rich. He’s going to fight socialism with…uh, what ammo again? Oh yeah, FUX Snooze’s stock in trade: PURE CRAPAGANDA!

Meanwhile, even Theresa May’s festering Tory Britain doesn’t want him back. And his channel’s target audience is aging and dying, so his tirade is falling on deaf ears. Millennials couldn’t care less for FUX. Sad!

What we know (and what we don’t) about Alek Minassian

Rosemary Barton of the CBC and Phil Gurski, a former CSIS analyst, discuss the cool-headed way in which van-attack suspect Alek Minassian was arrested. It’s a far cry from the way Sammy Yatim, a Syrian Christian immigrant teenager armed with a knife, was taken down (with eight bullets AND a Taser). Minassian is, obviously, NOT a Syrian; his Armenian name makes that clear. But the officer arresting him also had no way of knowing that, at the time; he simply realized that Minassian didn’t have a gun when he claimed to. We have yet to learn what he had in his hand that he was pointing at the police. But it seems that the police have learned a thing or two — maybe — in how better to handle suspects like Alek Minassian.

There’s a lot we don’t know about Minassian himself yet, but here are some things that we do, and should:

One classmate, who worked on a project with him at Seneca in 2015, described Mr. Minassian as someone with a significant social or mental disability who had a hard time speaking to people, difficulty under pressure, and constant physical tics where he shook his hands and tapped his head.

The man, who did not want to be identified, expressed disbelief that Mr. Minassian would even be capable of renting and piloting an automobile. He said, when he knew him, Mr. Minassian didn’t drive, and didn’t know how a steering wheel worked.

The man said in a text conversation that he did not believe the attack would be politically motivated, saying he suspects his former classmate got into an accident, overreacted and panicked, asking police to shoot him in a video captured on the street by a bystander. The man said he heard that Mr. Minassian could code well.

One Seneca student in computer studies said Mr. Minassian had graduated from the program just last week. The student shared with The Globe and Mail a message Mr. Minassian sent to the group “out of the blue” on April 19 telling off his classmates. He added that he believed Mr. Minassian was at Seneca for seven years because he held down several software development jobs.

Saying he did not want to be publicly identified as an associate of a suspected killer because he is currently being interviewed for summer internships, this Seneca student added that he didn’t think Mr. Minassian had lined up any work after college.

The student said the Mr. Minassian he knew of never showed any signs of extremism or of subscribing to any particular religious or ideological persuasion – he was just a somewhat socially awkward young man who was good with computers.

So it looks like he has one thing in common with Sammy Yatim: he was emotionally troubled, and he had a very public meltdown, leading to a police takedown.

We also know that the RCMP are not investigating Minassian, because there is no evidence connecting him to any known terrorist group. So much for the theory running around the rightwingnuttosphere that he’s with Daesh, eh?

But here’s something that WILL twirl the right-wingers’ turbans: It appears that Minassian does have ties to one terroristic movement which still doesn’t have a presence on the official radar. Namely, the so-called involuntary celibates:

Speculation surfaced Monday night around a Facebook post associated with the same name and photo as appear on Minassian’s LinkendIn site.

Facebook told CBC News that the post from an Alek Minassian was real and was posted publicly on his profile before Facebook shut it down.

The post referred to the “Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger.” Rodger was the 22-year-old California man responsible for a deadly rampage in Isla Vista, Calif., that left six people dead and a dozen people wounded.

In a video posted ahead of that 2014 attack, Rodger raged about a number of women turning down his advances, rendering men like him “incels,” a term used by some groups to mean “involuntarily celibate.”

Rodger referred to men who were successful with women as “Chads” and women who turned men down as “Stacys.”

The post that appeared on Minassian’s Facebook page included a line that said the “incel rebellion has already begun. We will overthrow all the Chads and the Stacys.”

“This is a terrible tragedy, and our hearts go out to the people who have been affected,” Facebook said in a statement. “There is absolutely no place on our platform for people who commit such horrendous acts.”

The social networking site said it identified Minassian’s account after the attack and immediately deleted it.

Facebook said it uses a combination of technology and reports from its members to remove content that violates its community standards.

So, it would appear that Facebook does recognize him as a terrorist of sorts, but it’s a very un-Islamic breed of terrorists. The kind that’s under-represented in law enforcement’s knowledge base because it’s mostly white, anglophone, and western.

Cops don’t recognize “incels” as a terror threat, but they should. They have all the earmarks: Disaffected, often friendless, disproportionately young and male, angry and hateful toward women, with a “revolutionary” rhetoric that is laughable even on the surface of it, but nonetheless aimed at damaging society as much as possible. And which can do a lot of damage, and does. The Umpqua Community College shooter was one of these guys, himself. (His own mother described him as “born angry”.)

Another thing Minassian has in common with the Umpqua shooter? A brief and unhappy stint in the military:

BTW, Minassian used military and quasi-military jargon in his now-removed Facebook profile and the post in which he “came out” as an incel.

It’s as if these guys try the macho-man role on for size, find it a poor fit, and then despair because it doesn’t provide a “constructive” outlet for their violent urges. And if the military, that bastion of machismo, rejects them, it’s as if another woman had refused them sex. If a portion of society dedicated to violence decides that you’re no good for them, that’s another point of alienation adding to the aggrieved anger of an already highly alienated mind.

Worse, if they’re looking for weapons training so that they can go on a terror spree, incels trying to enter the military and then being rejected may just decide to strike out on their own. Lone wolves? Given that they have cyber-communities (which are, as yet, very under-monitored by authorities), I wouldn’t say they’re so lone. They may act out singly, but they are very much a group. They even have their own in-group language; women and girls are dehumanized as “femoids” (or just “foids” now, for even more diminution). And they idolize and admire, however despicably, others who have acted out alone before them. Every so often, one of them will try to copy or even outdo his predecessors, in a final bid to be even more admired and envied in that small circle. It’s his only chance to become a real luminary in the world, however fucked-up.

But it’s also a dead end. Most of these lone terrorists end up dead at spree’s end, because once a killer has blipped on the public radar and earned public revulsion and ire, what is there left to live for? Society as a whole has already rejected them, in their view, and now it actively and objectively despises them. Their belief has become a self-fulfilling prophecy. But the approbation of a small Internet community of misfits isn’t enough to survive on either, and a lifetime in prison (with all the violence and social alienation THAT entails) would be torture. So those who go in with guns, go out with guns as well.

And those who don’t? Well, it doesn’t surprise me that Minassian tried to get the arresting officer to shoot him; suicide-by-cop is how these dead-enders operate when they lack the time, the nerve, or the means to kill themselves. And sometimes, it’s also a fucked-up bid for martyrdom.

Unfortunately for this one, the cop wasn’t fooled by the bogus weapon threat, and was able to take him down alive, without firing a shot or even whacking him once with his baton. He’ll soon be facing his day in court, and he’s going to see that the glow of public notoriety is only temporary, but the ignominy of being seen as a crazy, indiscriminate killer will be with him for the rest of his miserable life. He will land behind bars, and eventually be forgotten.

And the incel “community”, such as it is, will be denied one martyr, at least.

Shania Twain apologizes, but the damage is done.

Well, how about that? Seems that her little throwaway pull-quote from the UK Guardian the other day didn’t go over that well! Remember this?

If she had been able to vote in the US election, she would have plumped for Donald Trump, she says. “I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?”

Well, she was right about that last sentence. Politics does have a reputation for dishonesty. And a truly honest politician, who is both straight AND polite, is a rare fowl indeed.

But Donnie Drumpf? The man has blustered his entire way through life, and shows no sign of ever being real. He lies about everything, from his ethnicity, to his grades, to his business acumen, to his sex life. He’s lied to the FBI. Even his hair is a tower of bullshit! Just because someone “seems honest”, doesn’t mean that they are.

And frankly, the same could be said about Shania Twain herself. The woman is as carefully crafted for maximum media appeal as she could be. Her name, like Donnie’s, isn’t quite real; her surname is her stepfather’s, and her first name is actually Eilleen. Her real father left when she was two, and one can’t blame her for wanting a more solid identity than she had. But she was quite content to let Canadians believe she was Native, when in fact she isn’t. She hasn’t been a Canadian citizen for about a quarter of a century now; she lives in Switzerland so she doesn’t have to pay our taxes on her multimillion-dollar income. But she’s still quite content to say she’s Canadian, even though she’s contributed little, materially speaking, to her country of origin. She married her producer, who glitzed up her image to the point where little Eilleen from Timmins was no longer visible under all the vinyl, fake fur, and rhinestones; you could only barely call her a “country” singer. And when he left her for her (now former) best friend, she married the ex-friend’s ex-husband, who was just as lost and bewildered and devastated as she. Probably brought back unwelcome memories of being a kid whose life was far from secure. Little wonder that she said this about her divorce:

“I would never choose for my son’s family to be broken,” she says instantly. “I would be one of those people who would keep my marriage together for my child … I tried to keep Mutt.” She says it goes back to her own childhood. “Look at my situation. My parents could have killed each other. Maybe we would have been better off in foster homes, but I decided not to turn my family in, many times. There is something in me that says a family should stay together.”

Even if it’s for the worst? Even if your stepdad is sexually abusing you and beating up your mom? Even if your son’s father is cheating and lying and slowly breaking down the both of you? That’s your idea of an “unbroken” family, Shania?

Little wonder that she thought Donnie “seemed honest” to her. She had too few honest examples in her life, no reliable frame of reference to judge by. If she did, she might say (as I do) that if she had to vote in the 2016 US election, she’d have picked Bernie Sanders, who actually IS honest. And who has just as consistently been on the right side of history as Donnie has been on the wrong side of…well, everything.

That “something in me” is saying a lot of bullshit things. And some of them, alas, fell out of her mouth at an inopportune moment. She’s apologized for them now, but the damage is done. Oh well…I’m not a fan of hers, and never have been. No skin off my nose.

And when I want to listen to country music, I’ll listen to someone who always keeps it real:

He’d have torn Donnie Drumpf a new one, and very rightly so.

Do you know this thug?

If you have seen this man and can identify him, Stormy Daniels and her lawyer would love to know who he is:

And yes, I do believe that she was threatened by someone working for and on behalf of Donnie Drumpf. The man’s mobbed-up to the gills. He’s also a well-known marriage cheat. Why would he NOT hire somebody to stalk and threaten Stormy if he feared that she would blow what little was left of Donnie’s fake respectability to the wind’s twelve quarters?

And Donnie’s fake respectability has always rested on shaky pilings. Just look at this:

A day before appearing on “The View,” Daniels attended a Manhattan court hearing centering on materials the FBI seized from [Trump’s lawyer Michael] Cohen in a raid last week. Federal authorities are investigating Cohen for possible bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations, and they have sought records relating to his involvement in settlements with women.

Ah yes, that Michael Cohen. The man who we now know arranged the hush-money payment of $130,000 US to Stormy in 2016, just before Donnie “won” the election…and after the “affair” was over. Looks like Mikey’s got a lot of ‘splainin’ to do, especially about how he managed to get his hands on that amount, just to hand it over to Stormy. But don’t call it hush money, and don’t you dare insinuate that Donnie was paying her not to shop out her story to any publisher who expressed interest!

But long before that, THIS is what happened to Stormy (who, incidentally, had NOT taken payment for her trysts with Donnie at the time they were carrying on):

During her television appearance, Daniels recounted in greater detail the story she first shared on “60 Minutes” about a man approaching her as she was preparing to go into a fitness class with her baby daughter. According to Daniels, while she was still standing in a Las Vegas parking lot, the man walked up and said: “That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.” She also said he told her to leave Trump alone.

Daniels said she never took the claim to police, and she has not provided any public evidence or corroboration. On “The View,” Daniels said that after being threatened, she took her daughter toward the “mommy and me” fitness class. When she appeared shaken, Daniels said, she lied to an instructor who checked on her, saying the child’s diaper was full and leaking.

She defended not telling the police, saying that if she had, her story about Trump would’ve emerged “and then the whole world would’ve known.” Daniels also said she did not want to tell her husband about the threat.

“I was just afraid, and I didn’t want everyone to know,” she said Tuesday. “I didn’t want my family to find out that way. I didn’t want my life turned upside down.”

Daniels said she did tell other people about the threat, including family members, friends and people with whom she worked, but she did not identify any of them.

Randy Spears, a former porn star who met Daniels on the set of a pornographic movie more than 15 years ago, said he helped Daniels when she was trying to sell her story of her alleged affair with Trump to Bauer Publishing in 2011. He said Daniels didn’t tell him about the threat at the time, but he wasn’t surprised.

“After the story was quashed, if she had an encounter in Vegas,” said Spears, whose real name is Greg Deuschle, “I doubt she would have picked the phone and up said, ‘Guess what, Greg … ‘ ”

Yeah, funny that. Stormy hadn’t been paid for her silence YET, but someone was already stalking her on Mafia Don’s behalf, and threatening her (and maybe her baby daughter, too) with death if she didn’t hold her tongue. And of course, she was scared. She didn’t have a bodyguard then; it was just her and her family, defenceless. Of course she wasn’t about to take that to the cops; anyone who could follow her to a mom-and-baby exercise class could probably come after her as she was exiting the cop shop, too. And maybe even run her car off the road, baby on board and all, and make it look like an accident…

But, like said: This is totally in character for Donnie. He’s well known for his mob buddies. So it wouldn’t surprise me if one of them sent a random thug out after Stormy, just to scare her out of ever telling her story of how Donnie chased her around a hotel room in his saggy undies while poor unsuspecting Melania was adjusting to motherhood at home, alone. I mean, that sort of thing is not exactly good for the image of someone who’s been scheming to be president since at least the early 1990s (and making Melania, to whom he was not yet married, pose in a red bikini on a fake official rug to support the “presidential” image, too).

Not that his image matters much anymore at this point. Every scandal Donnie could possibly have, he’s had it. I’m not sure what he could do to top it, but I’m sure hoping and praying that Syria doesn’t take the brunt of it.

PS: Oh look, Donnie has squawked up about Stormy’s composite sketch of the creep who threatened her. What were the odds? And just as much as I believe her when she says this happened, that’s how much I don’t believe him when he says it didn’t. SAD!

Revenge porn now subject to lawsuits in Newfoundland/Labrador

In light of the cases of Amanda Todd, Rehtaeh Parsons and Audrie Pott, this can’t come too soon (and it really needs to be federal, too). But the best thing to do is to make non-consensual sharing of nudes utterly illegal…federally. And internationally, too. After all, the illicit sharing of pictures knows no borders…and not everyone has the money to hire a lawyer who can lodge a civil suit.

Whoooooo, that was some mighty fine bull-snorting. Anybody else getting memories of this? Because I sure as hell am:

But wait, there’s more! Let’s hear Alex again, this time with the word “God” bleeped out but “damn” left in:

Yes, folks, he’s finally realized that Donnie is a piece of crap (his actual words!), and that he’s sacrificed his dignity (what little of it he had) and his access to his kids…FOR NOTHING! And now he’s also torpedoed his sycophantic relationship with Donnie. Who’s gonna buy all those cases of snake oil now, huh?

Bruce McArthur’s 8th victim has been identified

Toronto police detective sergeant Hank Idsinga gives a press conference in which the identity of a “John Doe”, shown in photos taken from the hard drive of Bruce McArthur’s home computer, is now revealed. The victim is Kirushna Kumar Kanagaratnam, a 37-year-old Tamil from Sri Lanka, who arrived in Canada in 2010, and is believed to have been killed in 2015. This brings the total count of identified victims up to eight, and of Tamil victims to two (Skandaraj Navaratnam was also a Tamil). So far, no ties to Toronto’s gay community have been established for this victim. The whole story of how he came into the hands of Bruce McArthur has yet to unroll, but his body was found along with the dismembered remains of the other seven known victims that were disposed of in planters in Toronto.

PS: Here’s more on this latest victim to be identified.

It is, indeed, a sad story…of a refugee who came here seeking a better life, and found a violent death instead. And one that will only get sadder as this case unravels.
