Do cops have the obligation to stop a massacre and rescue the survivors? Shockingly, at least in Texas, the answer appears to be NO. Jeff Waldorf breaks it down:

Yeah, you heard that right. The cops were not only cowardly, lying chickenshits, they even blamed the victims — the TEACHERS — for the crime that took their lives. And they didn’t rescue all the kids, just those few that happened to be their own.
I would shame them for this, but given the half-pint of brains split amongst all those ten-gallon hats, I don’t think any of it would penetrate. They lack the wits even to be ashamed. But I will say this: Those fucking cops just made the best possible case for their own defunding that they ever could have made.
Jeremy Scahill exposes a period of history that Second Amendment right-wingers would just as soon have us all forget. Namely, that time Ronald Reagan — then governor of California — and the NRA both were heavily in favor of gun control, but only of a very selective kind. The racist kind, of course.

Can you believe he said this? Well, okay, I can believe it, because it’s dumb, and dumbth is fully in character for Dubya. But can you believe he played it for laughs?
And of course, he blames it on being 75. Which, in my opinion, is good for him getting a shoe thrown at his head all over again. And this time, since he’s nearly 20 years older and presumably slower than he was back in 2003, there’s a good chance that the shoe would hit.
But of course, since he’s in front of an adoring audience, none of whom are Iraqis, all he gets is complicit laughter and applause. Which is sickening.
And, as David Doel and others point out in the video, of course there’s no chance that he’ll ever get dragged before a war-crimes tribunal. Which is even MORE sickening.
But you know what nauseates me most of all? This fucking fascist hypocrite — and yes, Dubya is all of that — having the audacity to slam Pooty-Poot (which is a nickname I got from Dubya himself) for committing war crimes in Iraq — oh sorry, Ukraine. Is that any way to talk about the man whose soul you once saw and liked, Dubya? After all, you’re both fucking war criminals. And you both have yet to see justice.

Internal White House records from the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol that were turned over to the House select committee show a gap in President Donald Trump’s phone logs of seven hours and 37 minutes, including the period when the building was being violently assaulted, according to documents obtained by CBS News’ chief election & campaign correspondent Robert Costa and The Washington Post’s associate editor Bob Woodward.

The House panel is now investigating whether Trump communicated that day through backchannels, phones of aides or personal disposable phones, known as “burner phones,” according to two people with knowledge of the probe, who, like others interviewed for this report, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information. The records show that former White House chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon — who said on his Jan. 5 podcast that “all hell is going to break loose tomorrow” — spoke with Trump twice on Jan. 6.
A spokesman for the committee declined to comment.
In a statement Monday night, Trump said, “I have no idea what a burner phone is, to the best of my knowledge I have never even heard the term.”
But former Trump national security adviser John Bolton said in an interview Tuesday, after the CBS News-Washington Post reporting had been published, that he recalls Trump using the term “burner phones” in several discussions and that Trump was aware of its meaning.
Bolton said he and Trump have spoken about how people have used “burner phones” to avoid having their calls scrutinized.

Ontario MPP Randy Hillier has been released with conditions after being criminally charged in relation to his participation in the ‘Freedom Convoy’ occupation of downtown Ottawa.
Hillier, 64, arrived at Ottawa police headquarters early Monday morning and surrendered to police. He faces nine charges, including assaulting a peace officer.
His release comes with strict conditions, including a $35,000 bond and an order not to post on social media about the ‘Freedom Convoy’ and COVID-19 mask and vaccine mandates.
Hillier is facing two counts each of obstructing a public officer, counselling mischief and mischief/obstructing property over $5,000.
He is also charged with obstructing a person aiding a peace officer, assaulting a peace or public officer and counselling an uncommitted indictable offence.
Welp, looks like that’s that, at least for now.
